Rob is a Reader in the School of Informatics at Edinburgh. His general area of research is human factors in computer systems design, where his interests include computer-supported cooperative work, methodologies for supporting 'design-in-use', and the study of organisational innovation processes. Recently a particular focus of his work has been in the field of medical informatics.
